Necessary Protection Print
PrintsProduct Detail
The title of this painting was also the name of an exhibition, and has come to be known as the name for an iconic McCahon motif. The T of the sky, falling light and the enlightened land that we see in this work is repeated in many of McCahon’s paintings from the period, representing the landscape as the protector of a gannet breeding colony, but also suggesting the necessity of the environment being protected by (and from) humans.
