Inspired by the forms in Henri Matisse’s paper cut-out work Les quatres rosaces aux motifs bleus [The Four Rosettes with Blue Motifs], 1949–50 these delicate drop earrings by SOPHIE Store are an elegant accent for any outfit. Invigorated by the ability to ‘draw directly in colour’ with scissors on paper, Matisse produced a staggering number of cut-outs, reducing form and colour to their absolute essence.
