The Maneaba Greeting Card
ExhibitionsProduct Detail
Give your loved ones a piece of Aotearoa’s art history with this greeting card featuring one of Dame Robin White’s (Ngāti Awa, Pākehā) first woodblock prints. After moving to the Republic of Kiribati in 1982, White made drawings of her new surroundings. With the help of a young friend, Florence Masipei, White annotated the objects in her works in te taetae ni Kiribati (Kiribati language) or Gilbertese as a means of exploring her new environment. A manaeaba is a meeting house – the heart of any Kiribati community.
