Karen Walker X Maud Sherwood Girl in the Boat Scarf
ExhibitionsProduct Detail
New Zealand-born Maud Sherwood’s 1922 watercolour ‘Girl in the Boat’ is rendered on luminous silk twill for this summer’s Karen Walker x Auckland Art Gallery ‘Escapism’ collection. Depicting serenity and a summer idyll, a languid model floats in a shimmering haze of sunlight and water.
During the 1920s, while living in Sydney, Sherwood made regular sketching excursions to local beaches with female acquaintances who posed for her.
This scarf’s square silhouette, cut generously in a lustrous 100% silk twill, allows for relaxed and chic styling; tied around the neck, knotted to a tote, draped over the shoulder, or worn in the hair.
