The companion book to The Body Laid Bare: Masterpieces from Tate, and published on the occasion of the exhibition Nude: Art from the Tate Collection at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, this vast illustrated catalogue reconsiders the nude through 125 works by 69 artists. Organised into eight different themes - historical, private, modern, real/ surreal, paint as flesh, erotic, body politics and the vulnerable body - each artwork is accompanied by a short descriptive text. Also included are two original essays: Flesh and form: redefining the nude in the twentieth century by Emma Chambers and Body language: notes on the painted nude by Justin Paton.
We have just a few exclusive copies available, signed by co-curators Emma Chambers (Tate) and Justin Paton (Art Gallery of New South Wales).
