Since 1996, Better World Arts have worked with Indigenous artists across Australia, Kashmir, Peru, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Nepal and recently China. They source high-quality art and handcrafts that are made using the traditional skills of artists. Made within source communities, Better World Arts believes that culture is strengthened when traditional lifestyles, skills and people are supported to stay in their own communities. Better World Arts showcase diverse cultures while ensuring sustainable incomes for the makers they work with. They are endorsed by The Indigenous Art Code and Fair Traders of Australia, who ensure ethical trading practices around Indigenous art.
This bookmark features Nganauwe Ngarrindjeri Peggeralin (My Ngarrindjeri Country) by Cedric Varcoe. His family is Narangga from Point Pearce on the mission at Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, and Ngarrindjeri from the area along the southern parts of the Murray River, the Coorong in southern coastal South Australia.
