Large Koru Pendant
NZ MadeProduct Detail
Symbolising strength, peace, and new growth, the iconic koru takes its shape from the unfurling fern frond and is an integral motif in Māori art, from tattoos to pendants to this beautifully carved Koru Pendant hung on an expertly waxed and plaited cord. Imbued with centuries of legendary prestige and revered as taonga (treasure), pounamu is the Māori name for greenstone found in the eponymous Te Wai Pounamu, ‘The Water of Greenstone’, or what is known in English as New Zealand’s South Island.
Each piece of pounamu jewellery has been made by hand and is one of a kind. Variations in the colour and shape of the pounamu stone may occur as a result. This only adds to the unique beauty and character of each piece.
