He shifted to architectural photography in the 1990s after observing the way that residential buildings of different periods reflected the shifts in social classes across China.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eLotus Block\u003c\/em\u003e is part of Luo’s \u003cem\u003eChinese City Scape\u003c\/em\u003e series, 1998–2002, which documented various building developments in Beijing at the height of the city’s transformation. He regularly visited the construction site over four years, each time taking 60 photographs from the same position and angle.
