On several occasions Picasso depicted Walter in different shades of purple and in rounded forms. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 1931, the artist devoted numerous sculptures to Walter, but in 1932 he began the year with a series of monumental paintings of her, including this work, which shows her in frontal and profile view simultaneously. Her figure appears as a web of interweaving lines and coloured areas, that meshes body and chair into an organic whole.
