Les quatres rosaces aux motifs bleus Print
Add a Fauvist masterpiece to your collection with this print of Les quatres rosaces aux motifs bleus [The Four Rosettes with Blue Motifs], 1949–50, by French artist Henri Matisse. By the late 1940s, Matisse was working almost exclusively with cut pieces of painted paper, and this work was produced while designing the stained-glass windows and interior of a church in the French Riviera. Invigorated by the ability to ‘draw directly in colour’ with scissors on paper, Matisse produced a staggering number of paper cut-outs, reducing form and colour to their absolute essence.
