The Robertson Gift: Keepsake Collection of Colour Plates

From Cezanne to Mondrian, Dalí to Bonnard, this special collection features work by the most influential figures of modern European art, all in the Robertson Collection at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.

As you uncover each of the 16 iconic artworks in this keepsake box, you will traverse the sun-drenched hills of southern France, dance to punchy rhythms of line and colour, and luxuriate in deliciously quiet moments at the artists’ homes. Accompanied with insightful texts, each plate-card tells its own unique story, to which you can add your own messages and share, or keep as a treasured memento.  

Brought together over 20 years, Julian and Josie Robertson’s extraordinary collection of art was promised to the Gallery in 2009 as an acknowledgement of the couple’s love for Aotearoa New Zealand and the life-long friendships they formed here. We are thrilled to welcome the collection to its new home and to share it with you.
