Flora Dish Fennel Flower
Kim Bowes, the creative force behind Blue Shed Ceramics, draws deeply from her passion for flowers, plants and nature. With a rich background as a florist and as the Herb and Salvia Collection Curator at the Auckland Botanic Gardens, Bowes brings her botanical expertise to life in her Pukekohe-based studio. Each of her handcrafted and hand painted ceramic pieces is a vibrant homage to the natural world. Inspired by the lush beauty surrounding her home – from her garden to the native bush and the nearby paddocks – Bowes creates ceramics that capture the essence of the seasons. Her process is beautifully organic: she picks plants, flowers, and leaves from her surroundings. As a result, her work evolves throughout the year, offering a unique and ever-changing collection of mini art pieces that reflect the natural rhythms of Aotearoa.
