Founded by sisters and educators Ashley Pihema and Kelly Pihema-Berridge (Kai Tahu, Ngāti Kahu, Ngāti Whātua and Ngāpuhi), Rerehua Boutique was born from a desire to share their love for Aotearoa New Zealand’s Indigenous reo (language), tikanga (customs) and mātauranga (knowledge). Each of their beautifully crafted taonga (treasure) is engraved with a whakataukī (proverb) or karakia (ritual chant), enfolding the wearer in a kaupapa (philosophy) and a personal story that uplifts and inspires. From ‘Pīata mai ana’, an affirmation to stand proud in who you are, to ‘Whanake Te Toi’, an affirmation to prosper the arts, each piece is thoughtfully designed to stand with you every day – helping you feel confident, empowered and proud as you whakanui (uplift) the Indigenous reo and heritage of Aotearoa.
