Wilbur Hsu Conch Shell Necklace

九 JIǓ [9] is a return to memory, heritage and the soft permanence of past blessings. 

Inspired by a pair of baby bracelets gifted to maker Wilbur Hsu 徐鴻恩 at birth, each charm in this collection signifies a specific incarnation of joy and protection for a child. Nine charms have been remade in fine metals, and placed among jade and pure silk, creating a collection that reflects on love born of hope and well wishes. Each piece is designed to be cherished and kept as a token of consideration. Wilbur works with precious metals and cloth, using existing materials found throughout Aotearoa. 

Wilbur explores lineage and heritage through designs that contain graceful edges and intentional details. His work is often tied to identity and gentle reimaginations of the past. Each piece is handmade with love in Tāmaki Makaurau.
